AQR / DPR Conference 2011 - Cairns

Will the real evidence please stand up: politicising qualitative research.

The first Australian Discourse, Power, Resistance (DPR) conference, WILL THE REAL EVIDENCE PLEASE STAND UP: POLITICISING QUALITATIVE RESEARCH will be held in Cairns on the 23rd, 24th and 25th August 2011, supported by AQR (Association for Qualitative Research Australia). AQR is committed to promoting innovative debate around ways of 'doing' qualitative research.

The DPR 'down under' conference will consider how qualitative research practices are increasingly situated and contested and promises to be an exciting event that will unite scholars, practitioners and researchers from across Australia and around the world, with the emerging DPR community in the United Kingdom, South Africa, the Caribbean and Poland.

An intellectually stimulating postgraduate student program, will also provide a great forum for postgraduate students to connect with each other.

Overseas and interstate members may be interested to know that Cairns is in tropical North Queensland, the gateway to the Great Barrier Reef and the Daintree rain forest. August is the best time of year to visit the Australian tropics.

The conference will be held at Rydges, Tradewinds Hotel, Cairns www.rydges.com/tradewinds and to find out more about the attractions in the area please go to www.cairns.aust.com
