Biennial Conference 2001 - Melbourne

The second AQR Conference was held from the 5th to the 7th of July, 2001 at Melbourne, Australia.

This Second International Conference �Critical Issues in Qualitative Research�, brought together researchers from all disciplines interested in theoretical discussion about relevant & topical issues.

Sub Themes that were addressed:

• Innovative Approaches in combining Qualitative & Quantitative Research
  
• Metasynthesis - combining the results of a number of studies with a similar focus
  
• New approaches to qualitative data analysis
  
• Qualitative Research from a post modern perspective
  
• Qualitative Research from a feminist perspective
  
• Any other theme that addresses Critical Issues in Qualitative Research

The invited keynote speakers were :

Benjamin F Crabtree
Benjamin is Professor & Research Director, University of Medicine & Dentistry of New Jersey, Robert Wood Johnson Medical School, Department of Family Medicine USA.

Hugh Mackay
Hugh is a psychologist, social researcher and writer. He has made a lifelong study of the attitudes and behaviour of the Australian community and is one of the pioneers of qualitative research in Australia.

Lyn Richards
Lyn is co-author of the software NUD*IST & NVivo, Director of Research Services at Qualitative Solutions & Research, Melbourne and Adjunct Professor of Qualitative Methodology at the University of Western Sydney.

Annette Street
Annette is Professor, Nursing Research Director, End of Life care program, School of Nursing La Trobe University Melbourne
